The fall of the prodigal began before he asked for his inheritance; when he separated his interests from the interests of his family–and not when he began to live riotously, far from home.

As we read from the Fathers response both here and later we understand that he was a good man, he wanted to give his son his inheritance and he later waited every day for his son to return home and then treated him like royalty when he did… Not really the characteristics of a bad father…
